Stitchfix Haul: Cute Sneaks!

Yesterday I shared the items that were included in my most recent fix. Today I'm back to show you my most favorite item from this fix and how I styled it!
I requested a cute pair of comfy sneaks and my stylist delivered when she sent me this pair by Cole Haan! They are a reasonable price, too ($78). (Remember you can select price points to fit your budget for each category of clothing & accessories).

I just happened to find the perfect matching shirt to pair with these sneaks when I was browsing Target!

This combination totally speaks my love language! You can find the shirt here. It comes in Junior sizes as well as plus sizes.

I sized up from my usual size small to a medium for a looser fit, and so it would cover my lady parts with leggings.

I think it's safe to say that I am definitely keeping these sneakers!

Happy Matching!

Latest Confession: It's Christmas Again!

I shared with you on Friday that my latest fix was supposed to arrive this weekend and it did! I get about as excited for my fix to arrive as a kid on Christmas. It's just so fun to see what my stylist sends!

Before I make the big reveal with all of my items I should tell you a little bit about Stitchfix, in case you haven't ever heard of it (scroll right down to the goodies if you are familiar). It's pretty much an online personal stylist. You create an online profile that gives your stylist a glimpse of your desired and existing wardrobe and any items you like/dislike, and a fix (box) containing 5 items is curated just for you! You can select the frequency of each fix based on your needs. Once your fix arrives you have 3 days to decide what items to keep and those that you want to return. You can extend the checkout time period if necessary. There is a $20 styling fee per fix that is deducted from the total cost of the items you keep. It's pretty simple, right?!?

Here are all the items I received in this month's fix.
Cowl Neck Knit Top
               $54

       Lace Up Sneaker
                $78

Midi Performance Legging
             $98

  Textured Knit Vest
           $78

             Printed Tee
                 $78

I am extremely happy with the items that my stylist selected for me for this fix! I feel like she really nailed my style and honored my requests. Speaking of requests...I did just that for this fix. I am in need of mom friendly (nursing) items that I can wear out and about as well as around the house. I don't always make requests, but when I do I typically receive everything I ask for!

Stay tuned later this week to see how I styled each item and to find out which ones I kept!

Happy Matching!

Latest Confession: I Needed A Change & A Few Faves

Happy Saturday! I don't know about you, but this week could not have gone by any faster!

I don't know if it's just the winter blues (even though I love snow) or having a new baby and being cooped up at home or what, but I have had this itch to change my hair. I thought about cutting it short, maybe trying a new color, but instead I decided to style it differently.

I've been wanting to try the wavy/beachy hair style for a while now, but haven't been able to figure out the curling iron technique. I also wear my hair up 99.9% of the time and I don't need it "styled" in order to throw it up in a top knot. I need to find a product that will help tame the frizz and invest in a better curling iron. Any curling iron recommendations?!?

And here are a few of my recent favorites that I couldn't resist sharing...

Has anyone seen these earrings from Bauble Bar?? I am in love with them!! They would make a great Valentine's Day gift. :-)

I can't get enough of this backpack from Madewell either. So cute and functional.

It comes in a pretty gray color too. Love this!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Matching!

Thoughts on Thursday: One Day Late!

Happy Friday! Here I am a day late...oops. Trying to adjust to life with a newborn and a toddler has been a bit challenging. :-)

New to the series? Join me every Thursday for random tid bits of things I’ve pondered over the course of the week. Nothing to earth shattering or thought provoking, just a whole lot of randomness. My brain is always always always thinking about something. Sometimes I wish I had a pause button that would slow things down a bit. Anyone else feel this way? Not the case, so I’ll embrace my always-thinking-a-million-thoughts brain and share my thoughts with all of you!

In case you missed last week's Thoughts on Thursday post you can check it out here.

Here's this weeks randomness for you...

1. Who knew there were so many uses for Vicks vapo rub?!? I happened to stumble upon a million and one ways to use Vicks when I was browsing Pinterest for cough and cold remedies that are safe for breastfeeding mamas. Apparently Vicks has been used to stop cats from scratching certain surfaces; it can get rid of nail fungus; and it heals paper cuts quickly, as well as can help remove splinters. I spent so much time reading about how multi-purpose Vicks is that I never found what I was actually looking for.

2. I am dying to learn photography. I found this post on Pinterest that I am hoping to read soon.

3. Purge, purge, purge is what I need to do! My clothes, kids clothes, our basement...all of it!

4. Capsule wardrobe - Sounds like such a fantastic idea and then I realize I have to get rid of approximately 2/3 of my wardrobe and I start to panic.

5. I am one day closer to my recent fix from Stitchfix arriving! Can't wait! I asked for all things athleisure this time, as well as longer tanks or tees to wear under the approximately 5 million cardigan sweaters that I own. This brings me back to #'s 3 & 4...maybe I should start by purging my sweaters?!?
(want to try Stitchfix? Please use my referral code: https://www.stitchfix.com/referral/3739434?sod=w&som=c)

6. Is an Instapot just a quicker cooking crockpot? I think I might need one.

7. Sweden recently switched to a 6 hour work day. I want to move to Sweden ASAP!

8. The SNOO - right now I would buy or do just about anything if Maxwell would sleep through the night. Does that include spending $1400?? Hmmm, not sure. Ask me at 3am!

9. I need more transitional scarves. My husband would disagree. Maybe I'll purge scarves once I'm finished with my sweaters. This way I can at least make room for more. :-)

Side note - Loving this one for Valentine's Day. It's not transitional but loving it nonetheless!

10. How do I  make the most use out my toddler's nap time? I am always torn between working out, taking a nap, cleaning, taking a nap, laundry, taking a nap. As you can see taking a nap always weighs heavily on my mind, but rarely happens. So much to do! All. the. time.

That's all for now! Please share your random thoughts, so I don't feel so lonely.

Happy Matching!

Current Confessions: Baby Registry Favorites!

Baby Registry Favorites...
for the MOM-to-be!

I'm giving you permission, yes YOU, mama-to-be to create a registry of items for yourself! It can be an actual registry on Amazon (because they have everything) or from stores of your choosing, or a list of items written on a post-it that you give to your significant other with buying directions! Whatever works just get yourself some, or better yet all, of these items!

Let's get to it. Here are the top 10 items that the mama-to-be should register for, or purchase for herself, before the arrival of baby.

1. Bluetooth headphones. These will free up your hands, while allowing you to listen to music, audiobooks, podcasts, whatever entertainment you prefer! You can hold baby and jam out to your favorite tunes! I own these in black (there's an option for blue if you are interested), but there are tons out there.

2.  Magazine, Audiobook, TV subscription for binge watching, reading or listening...anything that tickles your fancy. Now you see why you need those headphones, right? This one doesn't have to cost a thing if you don't want it to. You can download the audible app and sign out books from your local library all for free. Just do it before baby comes so you have your source of entertainment during late night feedings all ready to roll!

3. Dyson stick vacuum. Ok ok, so this one is a little strange, I get it. I like a clean, neat and tidy house. We have a dog and now two kids, so I find myself vacuuming daily. Instead of opening the closet and pulling out my vacuum, then unwinding the cord and plugging it in, I can just grab my Dyson and go. Super duper easy and manageable. Go buy one! BONUS - vacuum when baby is crying - they usually like the sound. Clean House + Happy Baby = Happy Mama. Side note - we purchased this one from Target on Black Friday, but I have seen them for cheaper prices on Groupon and Zulily, however they are generally refurbished. Worth looking into though!

4. Laughable coffee/tea mug (one for home and one for travel). If you are anything like me you are going to need require a source of caffeine to keep you awake from the late night parties feedings. Who doesn't love a quotable mug? Find one that makes you smile and use it daily after you have your little bundle of joy. I am currently loving these choices (5 different styles to choose from!) from GroopDealz. I also love this traveler mug from Anthropologie. This one is cute too. Don't forget to stock up on your favorite brand and flavor of coffee or tea, too! We enjoy Starbucks kcups at my house.

5. Automatic car starter. You need one of these installed if you don't already have one. If you live in the Northeast like I do and end up having a newborn in the winter, this is an absolute must! Mama doesn't have time to run out to the car to turn it on before leaving the.

6. Athleisure wear. And lots of it. Suggestion- get joggers WITH POCKETS. I LOVE these ones from LOFT. You never know when you might need to stick an extra binky in your pocket, maybe your phone, or a granola bar for late night snacking. Stay in style and be comfortable. Anyone object? :-)

7. Clothing subscription. Remember that Athleisure wear I told you to get? Well, you can have styles selected for you and delivered right to your door step with subscriptions to services such as Stitchfix, LeTote, Trunk Club, etc...Easy peasy! Win win! My personal favorite is Stitchfix, but I know others have had good luck with the other two that I mentioned. If you try Stitchfix please use my referral code (https://www.stitchfix.com/referral/3739434?sod=w&som=c), if you don't mind. Please and thank you!

8. Ear plugs. When your SO takes over caring for your little one then you need to put these suckers in your ears and sleep!

9. Candles. Now I love Bath and Body Works candles, but buy whatever brand you prefer. Why candles? Just another thing to make you smile when you're tired from late night feedings.

10.Subscribe or hire any service that will knock off at least one item on your to-do list. Want dinner delivered? Sign-up for Blue Apron or another type of food delivery service. Laundry not your thing?...Hire a drycleaning service to pick-up, launder, and deliver all of your clothes. We are using the website Care.com to help us find someone to do light housekeeping. The sky is the limit when it comes to hiring help for daily chores.

11. BONUS - If you love color coding with fun flair pens or sharpies, then buy yourself a huge pack of them and a new planner and plan in style, girl! Currently loving these tropical colored flair pens! Many bloggers swear by the Erin Condren planners. I have yet to try them - such adorable designs on the website! I purchased this one from Target and have been loving it!

That's a wrap!

Happy Matching,
Marcie

MatchiN'spiration Wishlist & Friday Fave

It's Friday! Yahoo! Today I'm sharing a few matchiN'spiration pieces that I have recently discovered that are on my virtual wishlist, as well as a Friday favorite item that I own. Let's get down to business shall we?

Everything on my matchiN'spiration wishlist this week is from an online boutique that I recently discovered: Pink Pineapple Shop. Pink Pineapple Shop? The name says it all. So fun! I absolutely love love love the style of clothing they sell. (Side note - I believe there is an actual brick and mortar store, but not anywhere near me.)

First up...I need this pullover in my closet ASAP! It comes in a variety of other colors if this gorgeous green isn't your thing. The pic on their website has it styled so cute with one of their pom pom hats (I could do an entire post on their adorable hat selection) and a striped tee underneath. I just love everything about this top!

Looks so cute with pink wellies!

This mitten sweater just speaks my quirky matchiN'ista language. Paired with leggings, oh so cute! Bonus it's on sale.

Doesn't this sweater scream cozy?!? It looks so soft and is the perfect cream color for winter.

How cute would this elbow heart patch tunic and pom pom hat look to wear for Valentine's Day! Sadly the tunic is sold out right now but the company will email you when it's back in stock if you provide your email.

Now on to my favorite! This monogram necklace from Anthropologie is definitely something I'm loving lately. I bought it a few months ago and have been wearing it almost daily ever since.

That's all for now! I hope you have a fantastic Friday!

Happy Matching!

Thoughts on Thursday

I’m hoping to do a weekly post titled thoughts on Thursday where I get to share random tid bits of things I’ve pondered over the course of the week. Nothing too earth shattering or thought provoking, just a whole lot of randomness. My brain is always always always thinking about something. Sometimes I wish I had a pause button that would slow things down a bit. Anyone else feel this way? Not the case, so I’ll embrace my always-thinking-a-million-thoughts brain and share little bits with all of you!

Here’s a bit of randomness for you...
1. Should I try Hubble contacts?
I keep seeing advertisements for Hubble contacts, have you? I wear dailies now, so what’s the difference? I need to look into them.

2. Should all women really wear eyeliner? I have super small eyes so I know eyeliner would help enhance them. Every kind I’ve tried ends up on the skin underneath my eyes. So do I give up or continue searching for the right one!?!

5. Internet lingo... side hustle, tribe, currently (insert anything here), mom hustle, and the list keeps going. I love that this little blog world I’m in has its own language.

6. What the heck makes Starbucks holiday blend coffee so darn delicious?

7. And speaking of coffee I prefer drinking out of ceramic travel mugs and not plastic ones. No idea why. Anyone else?

8. I wish someone would invent an automatic dog washing machine...sort of like a delta sonic, except I want one at my house. I envision my dog running through a tunnel type thing immediately after being outside and coming out spic and span!

9. Shakeology shakes interest me. Especially the chocolate ones that I see all over Instagram.

10. I would love to move somewhere super duper snowy. I want more snow!

11.  Can all of the baby contraptions we own fit in a tiny house? Umm I doubt it. Not unless we had a separate tiny house for all of the stuff.... pack and play, swing, bouncy seat, newborn lounger, activity gym, etc. etc..How do these other families do it?

Ok, so that’s about it! Not really, but I have to stop somewhere!

Feel free to comment or share your own random thoughts!

Happy matching!

Latest Confession: Jean Shopping 8 Weeks Post Partum

I decided to throw this post together quickly because both kids are napping (mama win!). Kids, as in plural you ask? YES! You didn’t think I was neglecting my blog to sit around and eat bon bons did you :-) Of course not! I was busy working on baby boy #2. More on that later!

So, I finally got out of my house after being cooped up with sick children and cold cold cold weather. Where did I go?!? Shopping of course! I stopped by a few of my usual spots: J Crew, Bath and Body Works, Anthropologie....and finally I struck gold at Loft. I am hit or miss with Loft. Their items generally fit me just fine but I don’t always like their styles. Well these jeans I found are a game changer!

They are mid-rise, which I’m loving because they hide my proud mama pouch. They are stretchy: perfect for curves, and they are distressed, so I’m still in style! Three for three! You can’t see me but I promise I’m doing a little happy dance over here. Buy these jeans and you will join me!

I love a nice long cardigan. I found 2 on this recent shopping trip that I adore.

I found this one at J Crew that is super versatile. It runs large (I sized down to an xxs).
M
It comes in 3 different colors, but gray is always a win in my book!

This one I bought at the Gap and it is so so so stinkin’ soft and cozy.

This last one is from my most recent fix from Stitchfix.

Side note - have you tried Stitchfix before? If you answered no to that question you need to get on it, girl! Please use my referral code if you don’t mind. (https://www.stitchfix.com/referral/3739434?sod=w&som=c)
