Run to The Gap Now!

I'm back! Wow, twice in one month! Mama's on a roll! :-)

I couldn't resist sharing a few outfits that I purchased the other day from The Gap because
#1 they are so matchy-matchy (insert all kinds of excited squeals)...from head. to. toe.;
#3 one item + multiple colors = one happy MatchiN'ista because if one is good, two is better and three is fabulous; AND
#4 the prices are drop dead fantastic!

ENOUGH SAID!

Don't hold back, see for yourself why I felt like doing cartwheels in the dressing room because I was giddy over the cuteness of these outfits. Just for the record, I did not actually do cartwheels because I need to set a good example for my little guy (#mommin'isseriousbusiness), but I definitely thought about it!

Ok, let's get down to business!

This dress is soooo comfy. I absolute love it! It has a straight fit, hits a little above the knee and comes in so many different colors. {Fit tip: The striped version of this dress fit a little looser than the solid colors, so I would suggest sizing down one in the striped version.} Because I'm such an excellent photographer (NOT), you can tell that the sleeves have a little roll in them and the scoop neck has the right amount of dip so you don't need to wear a cami underneath. The price?!? Only $20! When I looked at this same dress online it was more expensive, so get off your couch, lace up your shoes and go to the store for even better deals!

Isn't this scarf PERFECT with the dress?!? Don't forget, there are sandals to match!

dress/scarf {this scarf is only $5.99 in store!}//sandals are a few years old

You know me, if one is good, two is better.....so here's the same dress in blue. The scarf is the same shade of blue, but has the perfect pop of green on the tassels. I almost passed on this dress since I already own something similiar, but I knew I had a pair of sandals at home in the same shade of green, so I just had to buy this dress and scarf combo, too!

Aren't the green tassels so cute?!?

And last but certainly not least...in true MatchiN'ista fashion, if one is good, two is better and three is fabulous...dress number 3 is equally as adorable as the other two! Add a scarf and matching sandals and you've got yourself a third outfit. Easy peasy!

{side note: please excuse the tag hanging from my armpit in this pic. I was so excited to show you these fabulous finds that I just pulled them out of the bag, stripped down, put on these cuties and took pics!}

Chances are if you see me around town this summer I'll be sporting one of these three adorable outfits!

Fourth of July Oufit Inspiration

Hello, Friends! Long time no see! Just trying to balance mommy life and work. I still haven't figured out how to fit in my blog, but oh well. I'll figure it out...or maybe I won't and I'll just keep popping up every now and then with random posts like today!!

For some exciting news....I'm on summer break now!! Yippee! It's all about the sunshine, daily walks and trying to fit in as much fun as possible over the next 8 weeks.

Ok, so back to the good stuff! Fourth of July is right around the corner..do you have your outfit picked out? You don't?!? (gasp) Well, guess what?!? The only reason I have mine picked out is because I happened to stumble across a top that I was trying to match a pair of red shorts to and voila! This outfit was born...
The shorts aren't a true red, but more like a redish orange. Lucky for me the top has the same redish orange color in it, too. It's a perfect match!

I hope you have a wonderful Fourth of July!!

Mommin' Isn't Easy but It's Better in Leggings! {style confession #10}

Leggings. are. AMAZING!

Enough said.

Style confession #10: Mommin' Isn't Easy but It's Better in Leggings!

As a new mom I'm all about style convenience, and leggings make the absolute comfiest, easy-to-throw-together outfits out there! As comfy as pajama bottoms, but socially acceptable to wear in public (as long as everything is covered up!)-who wouldn't want to live in leggings?!?

Here's one of my favorite outfits to wear for running errands. There's nothing special about this outfit other than it's soooo comfy! The pictures aren't that great (I'm still working on how to take better pics for the blog). So, like I said it's not the cutest of outfits, but it's cozy and baby friendly because well, spit up happens!
Leggings are so versatile, too! I wear them to run errands, love them for lounging around the house in, and they are perfect for working out in.
(Side note: Mommy and me yoga is so much fun!)

I love pairing leggings with a cute tunic sweater for work, too. With so many cute tunic options in stores now, who can resist this comfy, cute style!?!

That's all for now!

Happy matching!

Timely fashionable {style confession #9}

Whew, last week flew by and this week is almost over! We've been getting lots of snow in this neck of the woods and I'm loving it! I'm staying warm and cozy with my new hats and scarves and mittens to match! Hopefully my last post inspired you to do the same!!

I've also been cherishing warm coffee in my new mug! You know I love patterns, especially houndstooth! Sadly the houndstooth pattern is no longer available :-(, but I love this one too.
Ok, on to today's style confession!! If you've been following along, you know that it's time for style confession #9! If you're new to this blog; I've been sharing my quirky, matchy-matchy well coordinated, scarf loving, top 15 style confessions.

Here's a quick recap!

It's no secret that I love accessorizing with scarves, but I'm not one for accessorizing with jewelry. However, there is ONE piece of jewelry that I adore accessorizing an outfit with and I'll give you a hint: It's 'timely' fashionable and could be considered a wrist's best friend.

Style confession #9: I LOVE a cute, match-to-my-outfit, watch!

In fact, I love watches so much that I had to spread the love to my husband, who now has a slight obsession outfit coordinating love of watches too!
Here's a few of my favorites...
When it comes to watches, a girl has gotta have options! With so many options to choose from, it's impossible to just choose one! There are statement, matchy-matchy color coordinating, fun, one-of-a-kind picks and then there are classic, timeless, everyday pieces. Let's not even get into skinny strap, metal strap, boyfriend face, leather or metal options. SO much to think about, I know! Just remember, if one is good, two is better and three (or more) is fabulous! Use this handy dandy acronym to help you decide which watches should be your wrist's new best friend!
First up, is the 'wear anywhere' watch that can be worn with any outfit in your closet. I love a good match-to-my-outfit watch, but every girl should have a go-to watch that can be worn with anything. My tortoise colored watch is my absolute favorite 'wear anywhere' watch. I am obsessed with it love it because it can easily be worn with an outfit that has black in it, especially paired with cognac colored boots and a matching handbag, and can also be worn with brown tones. It's just a beauty!
J. Crew Factory striped shirt//J. Crew Factory green vest (no longer available)//Michael Kors tortoise watch (no longer available)-similar style here, and I love this one!

Second in line for the 'wear anywhere' watch is this gold one. Once again, this goes with just about every outfit in my closet. I love the large face and the chunky wristband.

I wore my gold watch with this outfit the other day, but could have easily swapped it out with my tortoise watch.
J. Crew Factory herringbone vest - no longer available//J. Crew Factory turtleneck sweater (runs TTS)//
J. Crew black toothpick jean (super comfy)//Similar boots here

Next up is the 'attention getter.' This can be a funky, fun, watch that is not meant to be worn with every outfit. It should be a statement piece, or as I like to say: "a MatchiN'spiration piece". It doesn't have to be flashy or bedazzled bling; just something someone would take notice of. The floral watch pictured above does it for me. I wore this quite a bit last spring. The colors are soft, but bright enough to make a statement. Sadly, I didn't take any pics of the outfits I wore it with, but imagine flowy, lightweight tops (to accommodate my growing baby bump) in lighter colors paired with comfy, casual jeans like these.

My hubby added this lovely red one to my collection (aka: the tiny ticker) and I love it! It has gold AND silver on the face, which makes it very versatile. It's made by a company called Tokyo Bay,  Let me tell you, when I saw their watch collection it was love at first sight! They carry classic, timeless, everyday pieces AND statement, matchy-matchy color coordinating, fun, one-of-a-kind pics, too!

Banana Republic legging//J. Crew Factory scarf (on sale for $14.99!)//Old Navy boyfriend flannel (super comfy!)//Tokyo Bay Frances watch

Here's one of the many outfits I wore it with. I could almost call this one my 'wear anywhere' watch because it's so versatile (or maybe I just own a lot of red that I can match it to). Either way, a gal should own a smaller, delicate watch like this one!

J. Crew toothpick jean (classic rinse)//J.Crew Tissue Tee (fave!)//J. Crew Factory scarf (no longer available)//Tokyo Bay watch (no longer available)

And, it's always great to have a 'classic' watch up your sleeve, like this navy and silver one. I found this watch at one of my favorite local boutiques and it's another one from the Tokyo Bay collection. I just love the casual style of this watch, the leather band, and the larger, boyfriend style face. It's great to wear in the summer for a nautical look and it also works to wear with winter looks. Let's face it, navy is an all time classic color. I think a watch with a black leather band would be a great 'classic' pick, too. (hmmm....I just might have to be on the look-out for one!)

Last but certainly not least, is a watch that brings a smile to your face: a 'happiness' watch. One that makes you happy to look at, expresses your style, and is unique to you. Maybe it makes a great MatchiN'spiration piece! This is the watch that I still NEED to add to my collection! I'm so excited because I have found a few watches (ok, maybe more than a few) that make me jump up and down with joy and are what I could definitely see myself adding to my collection!
(top left)'metro-somewhere' watch//'crosstown' watch//'metro-eat cake' watch//'metro- sunshine' watch//'time on wire' watch//'slim runway' watch

In case you didn't already notice, most of my 'happiness' watch picks are from Kate Spade. I can't believe I don't own a Kate Spade watch yet! They are absolutely, squeal-like-a-child, jump-up-and-down with joy, adorable! To say that these watches would make the perfect 'happiness' watch is an understatement. I have the biggest smile on my face just looking at them as I type this post! Don't you agree?!?

Hats make GREAT matchiN'spiration pieces! {style confession #8}

I'm back with my 8th style confession today! In case you missed it, I'm sharing my top 15 style confessions. Here's a re-cap of 1-7:

In case you didn't know it, I. LOVE. scarves! But, I've discovered a new love in matching my scarves with cute hats!!

Style confession #8: Hats make GREAT matchiN'spiration pieces!

If you live in the northeast, it's time to start breaking out the cold weather gear because we're finally getting SNOW (and I couldn't be more excited)! Woo hoo! Winter is one of my favorite seasons because I LOVE all things cozy. Especially a cute scarf and matching mittens! (You know I love a good scarf! MatchiN'ista confession: if one scarf is good, two is better, and three or more is fabulous!!) Lately I've discovered a new found love for hats to match my scarves and mittens because they make GREAT matchiN'spiration pieces! What's a matchiN'spiration piece you ask? Anything that inspires you to create a matchy-matchy color coordinated outfit from head to toe (nothing is too matchy-matchy for this matchiN'ista)! There are so many cute hat options in stores right now that are just too good to pass up! Like this one!

Not to mention, the sales on winter accessories after Christmas are amazing! I've never been much of a hat person, but I'm obsessed in love with the bright red color and the "snow" logo of the hat pictured above, so you know what that means?!? ANYTHING I'm in love with finds a spot in my closet! MatchiN'ista philosophy: If you are obsessed in love with something, let it go buy it in multiples! Lucky for us, there are other choices for this hat that are adorable!!

And just for fun, I thought I would share one of my favorite hat and scarf combinations from last year.
I had so much fun wearing this duo and received so many compliments on it. Both the scarf and the hat came from Old Navy last year. If you're on the look-out for pink accessories and love fair isle like I do, check out this hat and matching scarf in heather grey.

Have I convinced you to buy a cute hat and matching scarf yet?!? Let me try again..I said that I'm not much of a hat person, which some of you might agree with. I figure if I'm going to take time to style my hair, then why would I cover it up with a hat?!? However, if you live in the northeast like me, hats are a must!

Basically, there's two options:

1. Get hat head from a smile-worthy, absolutely adorable hat, that keeps you warm and cozy.

OR...

2. Skip the hat because "you're not a hat person" and have the northeast wind blown look from the cold, AND freeze when you walk outside.

SEE?!? You know what I'm talking about!

Besides, what's more fun than color coordinating a hat and scarf to your winter coat?!? If you're like me and you own quite the selection of coats (hey, it's all about having options) then you've got a matchiN'ista problem! My suggestion: pick your top three coats (or four or five, because a MatchiN'ista has to have choices. Lots. Of. Choices.), and find coordinating winter accessories!

Like I said before, the deals on hats, scarves and gloves are just too good to pass up! So, if you're not a hat person, but you want to be warm, then NOW is the time to find at least one or two cuties to add to your collection!

Check out a few of my favorites below!

Snippets from 2015

Happy New Year!! I hope you all had a wonderful New Year's Eve, one that was full of laughter and fun!!

Ok, so I know I said I was going to return to blogging in my 31+ week hiatus confession post, but life got in the way! Sooo much has changed for our little family over the past year and since I didn't keep you all updated while things were happening, here's a little recap...

This time last year we were ringing in the New Year as a family of 4 (including our fur babies Wesley and Porsche)...or so we thought! On January 6th we found out we were going to be a family of 5! We couldn't contain our excitement, so we shared the good news with our immediate family right away!

We baked heart shaped sugar cookies and attached little notes to each of them signed, "love Baby Brown." It was so much fun to see everyone's reaction when they read their note. For family and friends who were out of town, we shared the picture above of us and the prego jar (thank you Pinterest!).

March came and went without a hitch. I already had quite the baby bump at that time and people wondered if I was pregnant with twins! Oops, I guess I indulged a little too much! Thankfully I was still able to wear my 'regular' clothes at this point, as long as I had a rubber band nearby to hold up the top button of my jeans. ;-) Eventually one of my friends told me about the BeMaternity Beband, which I highly recommend if you are expecting!

April showers brought May flowers and a much needed babymoon to Tennessee! We hopped in the car and drove the 12+ hours to Paris, Tennessee to spend time with my aunt and uncle. It was a long car ride, but totally worth it! We had so much fun that I forgot to take pictues! :-( I can tell you that if I had taken pictures, they would have been of me in my maternity leggings and long tunic tops because that's pretty much what I lived in!

And my baby bump grew...

AND grew...

AND grew...

(Wesley thoroughly enjoyed the 'comfy pillow')

AND grew some more...

On a sidenote, I must say that I received the BEST maternity clothes from Stitchfix! If you've never heard of them, be sure to check out their website. The maternity leggings they sent me were incredibly comfortable! I also found a few good staple pieces from Target, and I bought Seven for all Mankind maternity denim which was fabulous! A little pricey, but totally worth it. Every soon-to-be mama needs a feel-good pair of jeans :-)

The end of May was filled with excitement as we celebrated the upcoming arrival of Baby Brown at my shower. The theme was hot air balloons, which was perfect for our gender neutral celebration! My sisters', aunt, cousin, mom, mother-in-law and family friend did such an amazing job putting the decorations together!

June marked the end of another school year and my friends at work threw me a shower filled with delicious treats and heartfelt well wishes!

After weeks of trying to pick out the colors we wanted to use in the nursery, we decided to just keep things VERY simple and add pops of color after the baby was born. We chose the sheepish bedding from The Land of Nod which was perfect for the color scheme we went with! (sidenote: I have yet to add all of the finishing touches to the nursery, but I will definitely share pics when it's done)

(we were having the cushion to the chair re-upholstered to a linen oatmeal color at the time this pic was taken, which is why there's no cushion on the chair)

Most of July was spent trying to keep cool. I taught summer school in a building without air conditioning, which I will think twice about doing again at 31+ weeks pregnant! I adored the kids I worked with and the adults were great, but it was H. O. T., HOT!

I turned into a frumpiN'ista towards the end of my pregnancy because my belly was so big and comfy clothes were a must! In fact, I'm pretty sure this outfit was on an every-other-day rotation. Seriously!

August arrived and hubby and I were excited in panic mode as we waited for the arrival of our little one. Finally, on August 18th, 11 days early, we welcomed Mason Charles Brown into the world!
At 6 weeks we had Mason's newborn photos taken and WOW, what a long and exhausting day! It took about 4 hours and the poor little peanut cried through almost the entire thing! You can barely tell from the photos, though.

My husband accepted a new position the same week Mason was born, so let's just say things were a little busy for us at the end of August!

I have to be honest, September flew by and is a blur. I'm pretty sure I averaged 0 hours of sleep at night and tried to cram in a few hours of shut eye here and there, during the day. Thank goodness my mom stayed with us for almost the entire month of September because I'm not sure if we could have made it through those sleepless nights without her! I pretty much lived in my maternity leggings and nursing nightgowns! And, I didn't even care if they matched! Heck, I was thankful for each day that my underwear was on the right way! Mommin' isn't easy! :-)
It was all worth it, though!

Mason dressed up as a little cow for his first Halloween and of course we had to go trick or treating! We visited both GG's (great grandmas), as well as aunts and great aunts and uncles. We also carved pumpkins, read The Five Little Pumpkins, and made salt dough handprint and footprint pumpkins.

Mason celebrated his first Thanksgiving in November and he definitely knew how to ham turkey it up for our family!
We had beautiful weather, so we helped daddy hang up the wreaths and Christmas lights!

December was filled with Mason's first Christmas photos, shopping, baking with Grandma, and more shopping!

Of course we had to take him to visit Santa and his reindeer!

Well, that's it for 2015! Thanks for sticking with me for this recap, I know it was a long one! Stay tuned for more matchiN'ista confessions and snippets of our lives as new parents!

Happy matching,

Marcie
